Are you a scaredy-cat? I am. I reason that everyone has an immobilizing, irrational fear of some sort. My cousin, for instance, hates bad weather, the sort that forces you into the hallway with a mattress. That’s not even irrational. We see people lose everything but, and everything including, their lives from weather related disasters every day. My husband is wary of spiders. Absurd, right? That’s until I saw my mom’s festering brown recluse bite several years ago. Turns out that’s a totally rational fear. I know plenty of folks who’d rather not fly. I know others who would burn their own house down over a snake sighting. People fear surgeries. People fear disease. Home invasions. Car jackings. Gun violence. Me? Easy. My hands down biggest fear is…anarchy in a post-apocalyptic world.
