Victorian Village Breaks Ground in Downtown Forney
Excitement loomed in Downtown Forney on Friday morning, January 4th as the long-awaited Victorian Village office and retail development project broke ground. Approximately 30 people gathered in the sunny, yet cold weather to celebrate the occasion. The development, located at the northeast corner of Chestnut and Main Streets, will be home to nine distinct commercial buildings in the style of historic Victorian homes. The buildings, mostly 3-5,000 square feet each will be developed by the Garrett Moore Company, with phase one containing four buildings. Terry Moore, President of the Dallas-based group, has over 40 years of development experience in North Texas and Oklahoma, including Swiss Tower in Dallas and Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth.
Prior to the groundbreaking, several officials spoke including developer Terry Moore, Mayor Rick Wilson, City Manager Tony Carson and EDC Board President Joe Dan McBeth. Numerous remarks mentioned how this development would “bookend” the Main Street corridor, allowing for additional commercial development opportunities in the downtown area. Following the groundbreaking, Anna Dodd of Senator Bob Hall’s office presented Mr. Moore with a congratulatory certificate.
