Crandall Pirates are District Champions!
It was an interesting week for the Crandall Pirates. A loss at the hands of the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars gave the Pirates a 2-1 record in district standings with an overall record of 5-3 on the season.
Game preparation for the Pirates’ next opponent, Quinlan Ford, was going as planned when news broke on Thursday, October 31st that Midlothian Heritage was forfeiting their district win against the Pirates. The Jaguars had played an ineligible player in the first half of the game against the Pirates. This UIL ruling placed Crandall at the top of District 9-4A Division 1 standings at 3-0 with an overall record of 6-2. Now Friday’s game against the Panthers had more of a buzz as they would have a chance to become district champions.
There was an excitement in the air Friday night. It would be the last time seniors from the Pirate band and football team would perform on their home field. After all the senior night procedures had passed, the Pirates and Panthers took the field for an important district game.
