FHS Hosts Annual Angel Tree Christmas Party
On Friday, December 13, the true spirit of Christmas was unmistakable in the halls of Forney High School. Students in the Education Program of FHS, led by Melanie Miller, excitedly awaited the arrival of busloads of some of their youngest friends – the Head Start and Pre-K students from the Forney Learning Academy. That day would be the culmination of a great deal of planning on the part of the high school students.
These young men and women studying with hopes of eventually becoming educators themselves looked forward to this day for weeks as preparations were made. Head Start and Pre-K students, with the help of their teachers and families, filled out wish lists, which the FHS students received upon the adoption of their angels. The Forney High students then shopped and provided gifts for their angels while also planning a Christmas party that included games run by students, face painting by the art department, and of course sweet treats.
