Anxiety affects millions of people worldwide. The Anxiety & Depression Association of America indicates anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the United States, affecting 40 million adults age 18 and older every year, which equates to around 19.1 percent of the population.
With the recent discovery of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in Kaufman County, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) biologists are stressing the importance of testing harvest-ed deer taken this hunting season to curb the spread of this deadly disease.
The Door - Life & Pregnancy Resource Center recently had its official opening with a ribbon cutting and an opportunity for the community to tour the facility located at 1330 FM 740. The opening was the culmination of a journey over the past two and a half years that originated in the hearts of Shelley Hunt, Alaina Bell, Marilyn Ellis, Paige Ellis, and Vonnie Salguero. From the hearts of these five, the ministry has taken root in 27 volunteers and workers who keep the Center open during the week as well as workers who gave time to remodel the facility and as board members giving guidance to the ministry’s mission. In addition, the ministry has over 100 prayer partners and a number of other individuals in various supportive roles.

Shopping for gifts for kids makes many shoppers nostalgic for their own childhoods. Few adults can forget the joy of finding the perfect gift under the tree on Christmas morning. Recreating that magic for a youngster can be as joyous for gift givers as it is for kids. That’s especially so when shoppers make it a point to give safe, age-appropriate gifts.
The FHS Percussion Ensemble played a showcase concert at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Indianapolis. Being invited to this event is a testimony to the elite status of the FHS Percussion Ensemble and the hard work of the students. On Thursday of the Convention they started the day’s events playing to a standing room only crowd.
The Kaufman County District Attorney’s (KCDA) Office is partnering with other law enforcement agencies (LEA) in the county to respond to increasing crimes committed by juveniles (10-16 years of age) and young adults (17-19 years of age).
Prices on the majority of goods and services have increased significantly over the last year-plus. Financial analysts report that inflation has reached heights that haven’t been seen in 41 years.
