Homecoming week in Crandall is something the whole town looks forward to each year. The entire school district takes part in festivities all week long. On Wednesday afternoon the entire town shuts down for the homecoming parade. The main attraction being the “Pirate Pride” put fourth by the football teams, cheer squads, band and other floats participating in the parade.

The North Forney Falcons hosted Fort Worth’s Brewer Bears last Friday night at City Bank Stadium. After a frustrating loss against Little Elm the week before, the Falcons were looking forward to a home game in hopes that they could walk away with the win.

Forney High School’s Varsity Jackrabbits hosted Texarkana-Texas High for a Week Three matchup last Thursday night at City Bank Stadium. After a loss the previous week when they faced the Midlothian Panthers, Forney was ready to get a win on their home field. Fans were out in full force, with excellent support and performances by the Varsity Cheerleaders, Highsteppers, Forney Band, and Color Guard. The game began with our nation’s flag presented by the JROTC and the National Anthem performed by some of FHS’s very talented choir members.

Schreiner University has named qualified students to its President’s and Dean’s List. To be eligible for the President’s List, full-time students must earn at least a 4.0 grade point average for the term, passing all classes, and have at least 12 hours credit for the term. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a full-time student must have passing grades in all courses and, must earn at least a 3.50 grade point average and at least 12 hours credit for the term.

Pirates Take Down Indians in Season Opener, 51-36

The Pirates have been chomping at the bit for their season opener against Jacksonville. Over the summer many of the Pirates were preparing for the season with daily workouts and team building exercises. It definitely showed as they took the field Friday night! An exciting offensive backfield and cast of players took the field for the first offensive series of the night. Senior quarterback Jamonte Gordon-West led the way with Junior running back Chris Abron and receiver Luke Moffitt in tow.

Young Falcons Open Season with 39-29 Win

New was the word of the day when the North Forney Falcons took the field against Dallas ISD’s Woodrow Wilson Wildcats in a game played at City Bank Stadium last Friday night. The Falcons were led onto the field by new head coach, Eric Luster. They were sporting a new logo on new uniforms that were worn by an almost completely new team after the departure of a deep senior class that led the team into the second round of the playoffs last season.
