North Forney Baseball Finishes Tournament Play 7-4-2 District Play Opens This Week
North Forney baseball had been flying high, entering their final pre-district tournament at 7-1-1 but, after going 0-3-1 in their final tuneup, now find themselves limping a bit. The competition in Corsicana last week was a step up from much of what they had seen previously and, while the pitching and defense was strong enough to win three of the four games, the Falcons were not able to find the consistent offensive production needed to win.
Garrett Gray has been on fire to start to the season and last Thursday’s game against Red Oak was no exception. Gray pitched a complete game, five-hitter for the Falcons, allowing only one earned run and striking out three in seven innings. Unfortunately, North Forney could not get the bats going as they dropped game one of the Corsicana Tournament, 2-1. The Falcons could muster only three hits against the Hawks in the loss.
