She has played a large part in Forney area history and has always stayed a part of the 1969 FHS Graduating Class as we have had various gatherings. Let me begin to “fill you in” about her exploits and influences, mostly using her words and some from other friends and me.

Fasten your seatbelts. I give you the long-awaited sequel to the recent column on cruising. In today’s episode of As the Moons Cruise, we get answers to some crucial questions. How was the food? Which port was the favorite? Did the animals survive? And, finally, was a decision made? Are we officially cruise people? I give you all this and more, but first, let me take you back to 1972.
October 26th is National Pumpkin Day, and there are many things about this particular orange fruit (yes, it is a fruit!) that many people may not realize. First off, annually the U.S. grows around 1.5 billion pounds of pumpkins with 80 percent of the crop (around 800 million) grown for picking in the month of October. There are also 45 different varieties of pumpkins ranging in colors from orange to red to yellow to green with, of course, orange being the most popular.
Most of us consider communication a pretty basic skill. And, I might even go so far as to say we think we are pretty good at it.
I used to be a complainer. My mother was, too. Around my teen years, my father sat me down. He said, “I love your mother, but she complains. She can’t help it. I want you to live by this creed, though. Don’t complain about something unless you’re willing to lead the charge to fix it.” I’m paraphrasing, but that was the gist of the conversation. Complain away, provided you have a solution in mind. Otherwise, shush.
