From what I read, the term, “natural herd immunity” (community immunity/population immunity), has been used for more than a century to reference a point that enough people in an extended area become sufficiently resistant to a disease so that an infectious substance/agent is unlikely to pass from person to person.

Coronavirus Restrictions and Remote Learning May Hamper College Student Voter Turnout

Madeline Pederson, 18, imagined that in the months leading up to Election Day, she’d be spending hours standing at a voter registration table on campus at the University of Texas at Austin, flagging down students walking through campus and registering them to vote.

As I perused the breaking news the past few weeks, something caught my eye and reminded me of sitting on one of the corner markers of the high school with a few other youngsters, whose moms or dads were involved in some type planning meeting for the school system in the early 1960s. The parents had nicely asked us to wait outside while they finished up the meeting with information that we were not supposed to hear, so we were waiting for our folks to come outside and signal us to the vehicles.
