Three Rights Make a Left

The third stop on my baseball road trip with my son TJ was Nationals Stadium. We knew the game had the potential to be a good one since the Nationals were well on their way to winning their division and the Milwaukee Brewers were in the hunt to win theirs. We had no idea, however, that we were about to see one of the most spectacular innings in baseball history.

We had looked forward to seeing a Nationals game for weeks. After all, that is where our Texas Rangers began. When I was a kid the only baseball team in Texas was the Astros, and they hadn’t been in existence for very long. Then in the 70’s it was announced that the Washington Senators were moving to Arlington, Texas, and the Texas Rangers were born. It took some looking but before the game I found the souvenir I was looking for. A dark wool baseball hat with a white W on the front and Senators stitched on the back. I wanted one because it would serve a double purpose. First, of course, it pays homage to the roots of our Texas Rangers, but secondly, I was a George W, Bush delegate to two National Republican Conventions in 2000 and 2004 and the hat just seemed fitting. Especially because W was once an owner of the Rangers.
