Falcons Race to Lead, Hold on to Defeat Royse City, 49-39
Facing elimination from the playoffs, the North Forney Falcons faced off against the Royse City Bulldogs last Friday night. In a Senior Night game that saw huge momentum swings throughout, the Falcons scored the first 35 points of the game, then surrendered 31 straight points before holding on for the 49-39 victory.
The Falcons rolled up 490 total yards, but gave up 602 yards, including 463 on the ground. Ahmon Petty-Dozier had 305 yards on 33 carries for the Bulldogs, along with two rushing touchdowns.
While Ty Collins, the Falcons’ leading rusher on the season, was bottled up by a defense clearly focused on stopping the run, quarterback Jacob Acuna had a breakout game. Acuna, who came into the game completing 48% of his throws, finished 18-of-26 for 307 yards and three touchdowns. He was also the Falcons’ leading rusher with 159 yards and three touchdowns. He did not turn the ball over.
