Dry Conditions Could Pose Challenges for Waterfowl Hunters This Season

Lingering drought conditions throughout much of Texas could present challenges as waterfowl hunters prepare for the start of the new season. The dry habitat conditions in many parts of the state are not ideal for ducks and duck hunters, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) biologists. However, weather pattern changes, timely cold fronts and significant rain could boost hunters’ prospects.

Steve & Stacey had recently moved into a lovely farmhouse out in the woods of the Wolverine State. Many producers throughout Texas are noticing an increasing fall armyworm population in their rangelands and forages in areas after receiving rainfall over the last few weeks. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service experts recommend producers be prepared to protect their valuable forages.

State Fair creative Arts Winners Announced

The State Fair of Texas recently awarded ribbons to winners in the creative arts competition. Several items were included in the sewing and needlework category from the Forney area. In the Junior division Second place award went to Macie Reeves and Third place to Kiana Gaines. In the Adult division second place awards went to Kari Campbell, third place to Kelly Lopez, Paula Smith and Connie Taylor. Honorable Mention to Janet Stone. Also entering was Becca Howard. All are students of local sewing teacher Dian Wade. Winning items were displayed in the Creative Arts building during the fair.
